Journella is designed to protect your privacy

Journella is a personal notes, tasks, calendar, and AI-assistant app designed around a warm, focused experience. This policy explains what information may be processed when you use Journella, why that processing happens, and the controls you have.

Last updated: April 2, 2026

1. Overview

Journella brings together personal notes, tasks, events, search, and an AI assistant in one app experience. Based on the current codebase, the app includes notes, tasks, calendar views, global search, AI chat, optional voice input, Apple Calendar and Apple Reminders integration, optional account sign-in, and deep links into app content.

What Journella helps with Capturing notes, managing tasks, planning events, searching your information, and using AI to create or organize content.
What this policy covers Information processed through the iOS app, including on-device data, synced data, analytics, and cloud-based features.

2. Information we may collect

Information you create in the app

  • Notes and note content.
  • Tasks, reminders, due dates, and completion state.
  • Calendar events, titles, descriptions, start times, and end times.
  • AI prompts, AI-generated responses, and quick actions such as creating a note, task, or event.

Information you provide for account features

  • Visible Apple Calendar events you choose to allow Journella to access.
  • Visible Apple Reminders items you choose to allow Journella to access.
  • Linked identifiers used to reconcile imported or exported Apple items with Journella items.
Journella is built around personal productivity data. If you do not want certain information processed, do not enter it into the app and do not enable the related permission or sync feature.

3. Device permissions

Journella may request access to the following iOS permissions when you use related features:

Calendar Used to import visible Apple Calendar events and optionally export Journella events to Apple Calendar.
Reminders Used to import visible Apple Reminders items and optionally export Journella tasks to Apple Reminders.
Microphone Used only for voice input when you choose to speak to Journella.
Speech Recognition Used to transcribe spoken input into text for the AI experience.

You can deny or revoke these permissions at any time in iOS Settings. Some features will stop working until access is granted again.

4. AI processing

Journella includes AI features and settings for both Local AI and Remote AI modes.

Local AI Processing stays on your phone when this mode is available and selected.
Remote AI Your prompt and relevant content may be processed in the cloud to generate responses and suggestions.
Important: If you use remote AI features, content you send to the AI feature may be processed by cloud services needed to return a response. Avoid submitting highly sensitive information unless you are comfortable with that processing.

5. Storage and sync

Journella stores app information locally on device and is also built to support CloudKit-backed storage for notes, tasks, and events. If CloudKit-backed storage is unavailable, the app can fall back to a local-only store.

  • Core productivity data such as notes, tasks, and events may be stored locally and synced through Apple’s CloudKit infrastructure where enabled.
  • Imported Apple Calendar and Apple Reminders content may be mirrored locally so it can appear inside Journella.
  • Authentication tokens are stored securely using the iOS Keychain.

6. Analytics and diagnostics

Journella contains analytics instrumentation for app opens, sessions, screen views, AI interactions, search activity, tutorial progress, voice input events, and Apple integration events. The current implementation logs analytics through Firebase Analytics when configured.

  • Examples include app launches, screen visits, AI prompt submissions, AI response timing, search activity, and permission results.
  • Analytics are used to understand feature usage, improve reliability, and measure product performance.
  • Diagnostics and security protections may also be used to help prevent abuse and protect app services.

No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. Still, Journella is designed to reduce unnecessary exposure and to keep feature access scoped to what is needed.

10. Children’s privacy
